Types of Connectors

1. To show addition / add another point to existing ones :
- also , as well as , besides , furthermore , and , moreover , in addition , in the same way.

2. To give examples / illustration :
- for example , for instance , such as , for one thing, in this way , by doing so, in other words, a good example is,

3. To show contrast / connect two opposite ideas :
- in spite of this , on the other hand , instead, on the contrary, on the one hand, conversely, nevertheless, in contrast, yet,

4. To show result / conclusion
- as a result , therefore , consequently , so, accordingly , thus , in conclusion

5. To arrange ideas in sequence (order, time and place) :
a) Order : first / firstly, second / secondly, next, then, later, after this, subsequently, after that, finally / lastly
b) Time : while, since, when, meanwhile, until, till
c) Place : where, wherever

6. To connect another point to make the existing argument stronger / show emphasis :
- in fact, as a matter of fact, indeed , certainly, this is why, definitely
